Logan Ford - Ancients

One of Ford's largest forest paintings, this canvas was built according to the golden ratio, hence the slightly odd size of 48" x 77 11/16"

The artist tried something a bit different with this one, where h painted the background with a palette knife, giving it a rougher, more painterly texture.

The foreground branches and foliage are done by brush.

The trees depicted in this piece are mostly old growth Western Red Cedars.
